We are creating an anthology of new manifestoes for the city.
Theme The broad theme for our anthology is tied to the idea of the city, generally. But, more specifically, to the city of Brighton. We want our thinking to circle around the relationship between avant-garde work and the city in which we live. This relationship can be one of love, lament, of anger, or a mixture of feelings. However, the theme of the city/Brighton is meant to be a general springboard for your manifesto, and we strongly recommend for you to be as creative as you like with this suggestion.
Format
The manifestoes can be in whatever form you think appropriate: prose, verse, aphorism, photography, illustration, instruction manual — you name it… we’d love for you to go inside and outside the bounds of so-called acceptability. Multimedia submissions are also encouraged, as we’re looking to have an online anthology as well as a printed codex, or series of pamphlets (dependent on participation numbers).
Deadline
The provisional deadline for this is the 11.59pm (GMT)30th January 2026. We will also be hosting some workshops and get togethers, lunches, and fundraisers for anyone thinking about contributing. So stay tuned!
