On 7th April 2020, the Exploding Appendix Avant-garde Art Practice and Research Group will be holding another interactive video chat (via Google Hangout) from 19:30 – 22:30. This will involve  the opportunity to share random thoughts, ideas and any projects we are working on.  This night will be an ‘Open-Mic Manifesto Night’ (See below). If you would like to get involved please message me at explodingappendix@gmail.com.
Throughout the history of avant-garde movements the artist manifesto has become a fundamental  artistic medium in its own right. The avant-garde art manifesto has served to offer a vision for a new art movement, sometimes a set of rules, sometimes artistic jest or poetic pronouncement, other times a polemical vision for the future. Artist manifestoes throughout the 20th century combined artistic expression with socially engaged polemics to provide an artistic assault on the cultural stultification of their time. In the spirit of Futurists, Dadaists, Constructivists, Suprematists, Surrealists, Situationists, their contemporaries and their heirs, we invite you all for an evening of incendiary manifestoes. Please feel free to bring your own pioneering pronouncements! This could be a set of rules, a visionary proclamation, a poem, an improvised speech, or anything that could be considered, in some way, ‘a manifesto.’ If you have something that you would like to bring, or have any questions please message explodingappendix@gmail.com.
