November 11, 2012
By Daniel Fawcett & Clara Pais
Firstly we would like to announce that as from 2013 we (Daniel Fawcett & Clara Pais) will be taking over the running of the London Underground Film Festival. The festival’s founder and director James Lowry is leaving to pursue new projects and asked us last month if we would be interested in taking it on, we have now accepted and are very excited! The other members of the One+One team will be assisting with the festival programming and hosting events along with some exciting guest programmers. There will be more news and a call out for submissions in the new year. We are particularly interested in showing works that experiment with live cinema and performance film as well as new experimental and underground cinema.
We will be present at this year’s LUFF with two events, the London première of our feature film Savage Witches on Saturday 8th at 12noon, events page here;
Followed by the launch of Issue 9 of One+One Filmmakers Journal with a panel discussion about porn and sex in cinema which is the theme of Issue 10 which we are working on for early 2013!
Issue 9, which will be available in print at the event and in PDF early December, includes new articles by Bradley Tuck in which he explores ideas of elitism, James Marcus Tucker gives us a Freudian reading of We need to talk about Kevin. We’ll have an essay by Nick Hudson on his film-music project Letters to the Dead, an interview about Savage Witches and an essay about William Klein’s Mr Freedom.
Savage Witches will also be screening as a part of Brighton Cinecity film festival on Sunday 18th November, see the Facebook events page here.
We will be at all the events, hope you can make it, come along and say hello!
