The Exploding Appendix Avant-garde Art and Research Group Weekly Meet-up

From the 10th July onwards Exploding Appendix will be running The Exploding Appendix Avant-garde Art and Research Group (EAAARG), a weekly meet-up upstairs at The Marwood, 52 Ship Street Brighton, England, BN1 1AF. The meet up will start at 7.30pm every Tuesday.

Our aim is to create a space where artists, intellectuals and others can meet to discuss ideas, issues and creative projects. The evening will be split into two halves.

The first half we will have a general meeting, where we talk about ideas, interests and things we are working on. This will include projects related to Exploding Appendix, as well as projects anyone present wishes to talk about. If you are working on something and you want to share and discuss it feel free to come along.

For the second half of the evening we will do something different. This might be a film screening, a live performance, an improvisation/creative session, a work in progress session, a reading group, a guest talk, an interview, a panel discussion, a debate, a reading group, a workshop, an exhibition, live music or a party. This is all very flexible and can be built around the interests of the group.

EAAARG will run alongside the Exploding Appendix website (www.explodingappendix.com), a multimedia online magazine that produces videos, podcasts, articles, interviews and visual essays exploring ideas and culture generally, and can be used as a platform for presenting projects related to the group.

Whilst drawing upon the history of avant-gardist and counter-cultural ideas we aim to explore a wide range of issues beyond the narrow purview of conventional art discussion. We welcome people working within different disciplines, different artistic mediums and coming from very different perspectives.

The Meeting will start at 7:30pm with a general meeting followed by the evening’s event.

For the Opening Meeting Bradley Tuck will present a Multimedia and interactive quiz using clips and excerpts from well-known and lesser well known films.

Discussion and Plan for Upcoming Feature-length Dance Film Project

This meeting will be planning and discussing an upcoming feature length dance film that we aim to shoot at the end of the month. We will also screen some of our previous short dance films as well as have more informal chats and discussions.

As part of a collaboration with Daniel & Clara, we will be presenting a selection of short films by a variety of contemporary filmmakers. Films to be announced.

 

 

Exploding Appendix. Dance Video #3. Intermediary Nightmare of an Unwashed Upholstry (2018)

Feature Film Shoot (Cancelled – to be rearranged)

Continuous with Exploding Appendix’s dance video series, Exploding Appendix will be shooting a feature length dance film from 29th July to 3rd August. On the evening of the meet up we will be shooting a short section for that film with those present.
