We are pleased to announce issue 8 of One+One Filmmakers Journal is available to view online. As you may have noticed we have relaunched our website and contact details. We felt it was time to improve our web presence as we realised that, unlike when we began back in 2009, this is how the majority of people are accessing our journal.
A lot has happened since those expectant days when Daniel Fawcett decided to launch a journal that, he felt, tapped into the sides of filmmaking that was too often ignored. One of the things I most appreciate about One+One is how it has continued to champion true independence in the face and onslaught of “independence” as genre. The journal continues – unlike any other I have found to date – to branch itself, accessibly, between film practice and cultural theory. Film can, and should offer us not just new ways to see the world – but new modes of living. Living with resistance, enthusiasm and passion. This is something Derek Jarman did so naturally, and it is why we have returned to him, this jubilee year.
Daniel Fawcett has taken up the baton in his practice and is currently working on the post-production on his new feature film Savage Witches which you can find out more about here.
Every one of our back issues is available in the Journal section of the site. It has been a long time coming, but we hope you enjoy the new issue. Remember, visit the Submissions page if you wish to contribute an article to the journal.
